The Art of Moonalice
An exhibit of Rock Posters created for the band Moonalice.
Moonalice is a band that commissions a poster for every gig and gives them away for free.
Since the band’s formation in 2007, Moonalice has produced a unique series of over 460 original gig posters with artwork from over 20 artists.
Posters in the Moonalice series feature artwork from many of the legendary poster artists of the psychedelic 60′s as well as today’s top rock poster artists. Moonalice is a band that lets poster artists do what they do best – make art! Unencumbered by standard constraints, Moonalice posters are as diverse as the artists who create them.
On Friday April 20, 2012, Moonalice proudly presents it’s 420 Tribal Pow-Wow at Slim’s.
A night full of Moonalice music and a special Moonalice poster art exhibit.
Doors open at 6:00pm!
Moonalice’s 3 Set concert starts at 7:20pm, admission is $4.20 at the door.

An edition of 150 posters was printed for the show at The Warfield Theater in San Francisco, CA on April 5th, 2012. Silkscreened in 4 colors, at the Firehouse Kustom Rockart Co. in Oakland, CA, with the gracious and expert help of Chuck Sperry. The poster is printed on cougar stock and the paper dimension is 20″ x 26″. This poster is #152 in the FHGV series and the edition is as always signed and numbered. 
In terms of inspiration and starting point for this poster:
Sleigh Bells, a rather new band which plays, in my opinion with juxtapositions in their style and their music. The image of my poster reflect that. Rock meets pop. Beauty meets death. Blue meets Red.
